Emphasis Media Appoints Managing Director

Emphasis Media, a company of PubliGroupe, has announced the appointment of Scott Thoreau as Managing Director of its Hong Kong operation.


Mr. Thoreau is a senior media professional and worked in Asia for 13 years with experience in developing media strategies.  He joins Emphasis Media from The Financial Times where he was the Regional Director for the Western US directing advertising sales and responsible for branding and positioning of the newspaper and the ft.com website in the region. 

Prior to The Financial Times, Mr. Thoreau was with First Eastern Media directing media related investment opportunities in China.  He was also the Publisher at AVCJ Holdings managing an Asian private equity and venture capital information portfolio which included conferences, magazines, directories, and research database.  Mr. Thoreau was with Emphasis for four years from 1995 – 1999 first as Vice President of Sales then Group Publishing Director.

Mr. Thoreau will be responsible for the development and growth of the custom publishing business in the Greater China region and the implementation of new communication solutions for clients across platforms including print, online and mobile.
