PubliGroupe strengthens digital expertise with Yves-Alain Schwaar

PubliGroupe continues to expand its digital expertise at the group level by filling the newly created position of Head of Digital Development with Yves-Alain Schwaar, who comes to PubliGroupe from the Geneva agency Digital Luxury Group (formerly IC-Agency). Together with Mike Weber, Head of Strategic Projects, Yves-Alain Schwaar is responsible for the realisation of new, especially digital growth projects at the group level.


The online activities of PubliGroupe including shareholdings generated revenues of CHF 657 million in 2010. Going forward, the market development in favour of digital areas of business will remain strong and above-average in all three business segments of PubliGroupe. For 2011, PubliGroupe expects, therefore, to be able to further increase revenues from online business in the Media Sales, Search & Find and Digital & Marketing Services (DMS) segments, despite negative currency influences (with a substantial portion of online revenues being generated in euros by the Zanox Group, the largest online company in the portfolio in which PubliGroupe holds a 47.5% share).


At the same time, PubliGroupe is continuing to invest in the expansion of its digital expertise by bringing Yves-Alain Schwaar (41) on board as Head of Digital Development effective 2 August 2011. In this role, the marketing specialist will be responsible for group-level digital growth with the goal of identifying and advancing strategic projects and maintaining coherent digital services across the various segments, in accordance with the corporate motto “PubliGroupe Marketing. More. Effective.” Yves-Alain Schwaar forms a team together with Mike A. Weber (50), Head of Strategic Projects at PubliGroupe since May 2010. Both report directly to PubliGroupe CEO, Hans-Peter Rohner.


The marketing specialist Yves-Alain Schwaar remains in his current position through the end of July 2011 as International Account Director and Head of Consulting and Operations at the Geneva-based Digital Luxury Group (formerly IC-Agency), which offers digital solutions for customer acquisition and retention, especially in the luxury segment. From 2003 to 2007, Yves-Alain Schwaar served as Head of Information & Web Services at the Touring Club Suisse in Geneva where he oversaw all web and e-commerce initiatives of the automobile association with its 1.6 million members. From 2001 to 2003, he was in charge of marketing communication and incentives at Swiss International Air Lines.


Yves-Alain Schwaar holds a degree in information management and is a certified marketing expert. In this capacity, he is regularly asked to serve as a lecturer – such as at the EHL (Ecole Hôtelière Lausanne) and for the Financial Times.
